Data: it’s complicated!
Yet there is significant potential for the use of ‘big’ data for monitoring and evaluation for many different types of organizations.
So, where do we start? Professor Ilan Katz advised us to first find out:
1) What do we need to know?
2) What kind of data might be available?
Professor Ilan Katz is a Professor of Social Policy at the University of New South Wales. He has many years of policy, practice and research experience in children and family services in the UK previously. His expertise is to link research findings to policy and practice.
I thoroughly enjoyed his lecture, particularly the ethical issues in using data. In sum, we need to consider “methodology”, “ethnics” and “practicality” when using data to assess outcomes.
What is Data Linkage? How it protects people’s Privacy and enables Research on a wide range of dataset using de-Identified data? A very inspiring video: https://lnkd.in/fsbRFik
